Pharmacuticals aren’t ideal, but sometimes they’re necessary. I want everyone who dismisses psychiatric treatment as inherently wrong to read this. Immediately. Please. 

It’s fucking alright to get that kind of help when you need it, assuming you can even get access to it. I’m trying to get back on anti-depressants right now because I want to do all I can to potentially help myself. I barely leave my room; I barely have the will to do anything. All of the positive thinking and talking and counseling and blah blah isn’t breaking me out of this. It’s just not. There’s no promise that SSRIs will, of course, but they might help some. They have in the past.

The amount of shaming bullshit I continuously hear from radical types on this subject is astounding and disheartening. Yes, the stuff is given out too carelessly, but that doesn’t mean nobody needs it. The entire nation doesn’t need meds for depression, but some people legitimately do. And that’s okay.
